To really make the difference in price clear, let me break down the quotes I got for my own home, which is 1,920 square feet, four bedrooms, three full baths, and I have two very large cats that shed nonstop.

See what I mean? While I’ve not seen another company with the same pricing model as Homeaglow, when you run the numbers, it makes a lot of sense.
But before signing up for Homeaglow, there’s one pricing caveat that I want to make crystal clear. The ~$19 introductory deep cleaning that’s often advertised is tied to the ForeverClean membership.
So, if you cancel before completing all six months, that first cleaning gets charged at its full, non-discounted price, which is calculated at ~$35 per hour for however long your first session was.
And to be clear, Merry Maids will also adjust your rate if you cancel or skip multiple services. So make sure you understand what you’re signing up for before booking your first clean with either option.
The Booking Experience
Getting started with Homeaglow is as straightforward as online shopping. After signing up for the ForeverClean membership, you’re free to browse cleaners in your area, look through profiles and reviews, pick who you want, and book. There’s no phone call, no waiting on a quote, and no back-and-forth!
If you’re ready to get something on the calendar, you can literally set it up in just a few short minutes.
Merry Maids works more like hiring a contractor. You can initiate the process through their website, but that’s just the first step. From there, your local franchise follows up to gather information, issue a quote, and get you scheduled.
Depending on how that particular owner operates, the follow-up might come by phone, text, or email. And on one hand, that can be nice. Anytime you’re letting strangers into your home, it’s nice to talk to a human first and get a feel for what to expect.
But on the other hand, having to wait on a callback before even knowing if Merry Maids was in my budget felt more like an annoying hurdle.
Another quirk with Merry Maids’ booking process is that your cleaning team isn’t authorized to discuss anything related to your schedule, services, or pricing.
If you need to reschedule, add something to the next visit, or adjust your cleaning frequency, that conversation has to happen with the local office!
The people who are cleaning your home are only allowed to show up and clean it. Any questions etc. must go through management, unlike Homeaglow, where you can work out these details directly with your cleaners.

They market it as “no fine print, no asterisks,” even though there are literally exclusions in the fine print!

At the end of the day, you’ll have a satisfaction guarantee of some kind once you become a customer of either company, but both have real-world limitations.
Cancellation and Commitment
Neither service locks you into a formal multi-year contract, but both have structures that can lead to an unpleasant surprise if you don’t have a clear understanding.
With Merry Maids, canceling or skipping a scheduled visit requires at least 72 hours of advance notice to avoid being charged up to the full cost of that session.
Skipping multiple visits in a row can also trigger a pricing adjustment on your recurring rate, because Merry Maids prices recurring service based on frequency. Gaps in that frequency affect the math.
And like I mentioned above, every change to your schedule or service has to go through the local office. The cleaning team can’t take those requests, which means any time something needs to shift, you’re back in the queue of trying to reach an office that may or may not call back quickly.
Homeaglow’s commitment is more explicit, and for me personally, easier to plan around. The ForeverClean membership has a six-month minimum. Cancel before that point, and your first cleaning is charged at full price. After paying for six months, you can cancel at any time with no penalty.

My Verdict After Researching and Trying Both
After going through all of this—the quotes, the policies, the booking processes—here’s where I land on the Homeaglow vs Merry Maids question.
If you want a traditional, company-managed experience, including a recognized name, a trained team that handles everything, and someone else coordinating all the logistics, Merry Maids has been a reliable option for a lot of people for a long time!
But if you want to choose who comes into your home, see what you’re paying before you commit, and build a consistent relationship with the same cleaner over time, Homeaglow is the stronger fit.
Let’s also not forget that for recurring cleaning, especially, Homeaglow’s pricing was considerably more favorable for my home. And the ability to pick my own cleaner and rebook them every time is something Merry Maids simply doesn’t offer!
